Description:
Improve your 7.3 Powerstroke engine's performance with the KC300x Stage 1 Gen 3 Turbo. This turbo features a 4" ported housing with drilled anti-surge for better flow, a completely redesigned Gen 3 7x7 SXE style compressor wheel with extended tip technology and with upgraded aero to aid in quick spool, and a SXE style turbine wheel with a thicker shaft inside of completely redesigned compressor and turbine housings.
The Gen 3 KC300x features a .91 AR Turbine housing and a 0.70 AR compressor cover. Originally a 1.0 AR cover, we changed it to a .70 AR cover with redesigned map groove, anti surge ring, volute shape and style with modern turbo technology. The turbine housing was previously available in .84 and 1.0ar; both are inefficient when compared to modern turbos. We took inspiration from the latest turbochargers in the market and applied their turbine housing design , flow path, volute shape, and material density to come up with our own 0.91AR turbine housing. This turbine housing was proven to spool up faster AND make more top end power when compared to either previous option.
The KC300x is a reliable journal bearing drop in turbo perfect for increasing your 7.3 Powerstroke's performance. This redesigned bearing housing and backing plate design to fit 200% LARGER thrust bearings and upgraded wider and taller journal bearings. Its upgraded steel thrust insert replaces the aluminum backing plate to keep expansion rates the same leading to more consistent turbocharger function. It's bearing housing has increase stability, backing plate stronger and cast into bearing housing integrated for improved rigidity reduces backing plate deflection and distortion under extreme heat and pressure
We spent years in R&D to bring the most drop in power to your truck! Not only does this new turbo design outperform anything else on the market, but it has also upgraded all weak points in the stock turbo, improving reliability at elevated HP levels. For larger than 205/30s injectors, we recommend you check out our KC300x G3 Stage 2!
So what size is the new KC 300x gen 3 stage 1? We are not going to tell you, but I will tell you this turbo will outperform any other drop in turbo on the market guaranteed. Better in every way and a perfect match from stock to 205/30 injectors. If you really HAVE TO KNOW the size for some reason then give us a call and we can go over sizing options on the phone.
**We Highly Recommend adding these products for best results:**
EXHAUST BRAKES: We get asked a lot about exhaust brakes and if they work with our turbos. We have found that some brands have clearance issues and might cause the brake to hinder performance, rub the turbine wheel, or cause other issues. These brakes typically use some sort of flapper to close which causes extreme exhaust back pressure to aide in braking. It will be up to the customer to verify fitment and functionality.
**These turbos come sand cast unless specifically requested. You can add a polished cover for an additional $250. Two week lead time on all polished covers**
**Our turbos are designed to fit directly in 7.3 equipped pick-up trucks. Although our turbos can drop into 7.3 equipped Vans, you will need to modify the turbo intake boot and down-pipe for proper fitment**
Will not fit OBS or e99 trucks without modification
This turbo is designed to make the most of your power for your 7.3 powerstroke. If you have or want bigger injectors, check out our KC300x G2 Stage 2!

Christmas came early!! UPS over delivered and brought me my turbo three days early! I am staged for the day after Christmas to install CNC Fab's 180/30 injectors, a CNC Fab Stage 1 HPOP, a Hydra with JeliBuilt tunes, Riffraff stainless cups, and this beautiful monster on my stock 2001 F-250 with 302k on the odometer. I will post an update to this review as soon as I have results. ☺️
Very happy with the performance of this stage 1 gen 3 turbo. I signed up as a tester, and installed it with my stock injectors first to get a baseline. As expected, it could handle more fuel than my modified stock turbo, and keep EGT under 1250F. After installing 160/30's, this turbo would spool quickly to 40psi with no lag, minimal roll-in smoke, pulling hard with all the fuel PW these injectors will take. I tow a 16K fiver, and it held 55mph in 3rd at 2200rpm up Stevens Pass, with 3.73 gears and 33" tires, EGT at 1250-1300F. Additional mods include an Adrenaline HPOP, modified airbox, and straight through muffler.
I’ve been running the new gen 3 stage 1 turbo on my truck with rosewood 180/30 and what a difference was previously running a kc balanced assembly and a ace wastgate and was great but without a doubt best drop in turbo I’ve run egts are manageable even towing fairly heavy. I will definitely be recommending this turbo for all of our customers trucks.
160/30 from BitterRoot Diesel, Hydra w/AA tunes, stock HPOP, Donaldson blue 6637 intake. I ran the modified stock with RiffRaff 4x4 and S300 Turbine wheel...did great but high EGT's pulling at 10-11K elevation. Switched to Gen2 300x and what an improvement. Even driving empty it spooled up nice and EGT's were in check when loaded. Got to opportunity to test the Gen3. First thing I noticed on AA 80HP tune is that I got to 38lbs of boost almost immediately when I floored it. EGT's dropped 150 unloaded and over 200 loaded with a 16ft dovetail. My boost with the trailer empty was 20lbs on flat ground. Hauled a 12' dump trailer with firewood in it and it felt like it was empty. I can't get my EGT's to go over 950 towing or on a hot tune.
There is no whistle with this turbo, but it has a low howl when spooling up.....kind of an evil sound, but I like the quiet on long road trips. You aren't going to be lacking air with this Gen3 turbo.
2001 f250. 180/30 rosewoods. Bts trans. Cncfab st2 hpop. Martys regulated return. S&b intake. I had a gen 2 st1 and gen2 st 2 kc300x on my truck. Then saw this. Opted in as a tester. Let me tell you. This thing towing my 7000lb camper running sdk. Jelibuilt. Gearhead. 1023 tunes. I saw a 150degree drop in Egts. I am in the powerband sooner, longer, smoother. There is less smoke when pulling away from a stop sign and it spools up much quicker. Can you still roll coal. Yes. But not as long as you used to. Only downfall is it does not whistle like the gen2 kc300x. But ill take the tradeoff for a cooler running engine. This is a 7.3 game changer.
