Valve springs are an essential upgrade that are often overlooked in many performance builds. The factory valve springs in your engine are not intended to handle the increased engine RPM and elevated boost levels that are typical in modified applications. Even common upgrades like an aftermarket turbocharger and performance tuning can cause valve float that may result in serious engine damage. In addition, your valves can be blown open by boost and drive pressure causing reversion. Reversion is when exhaust gasses flow backwards and enter the cylinder on the intake stroke, hurting your engine performance. This is why upgraded valve springs are a must-have on modified engines!
The XDP XD313 Valve Springs feature a conical design that provides more valve control than a standard straight spring. The conical shape allows for a smaller and lighter spring retainer that is also stronger due to size reduction. Unlike other valve springs on the market, the XD313 Valve Spring Kit can be used on a wide range of trucks, from stock all the way up to competition builds making 2,000 HP. This makes them a perfect choice for a "one-and-done" upgrade that lets you modify your engine to support more power down the road. Each spring is computer load mapped and then matched within 1 lb of seat pressure followed by a stress relief process to ensure quality and long-term reliability. 1998-2002 24v Application Note:
These valve springs require a spring pocket size of 1.190” or larger
In some rare instances the spring pocket may be too small due to OEM machining inconsistencies only on 1998.5-2002 models.
If needed, any competent machine shop will be able to cut a larger spring pocket.
