24V Cylinder Head
Description:
Kill Devil Diesel is proud to present our 100% new 5.9 24v cylinder head, casted by a Genuine Cummins foundry, no cheap Chinese knock-offs here. Through our connections and partnerships in the motorsports and automotive manufacturing industry we are proud to offer true, OE level quality to our customers. The castings themselves are far more consistent (less core shift) and are made out of superior material compared to any of the off-shore options (higher nickel content, denser casting, no porosity, etc). These are casted with tons of structural updates, and improved valve seats to eliminate the problems of the factory heads. KDD performs all final machine work, assembly and quality control here in our North Carolina facility.
This listing is for a completely assembled cylinder head with valves, springs, retainers, seals and locks, ready to install on the engine.
As these heads are 100% new there is no core charge or return shipping to deal with.
Options include:
Head gasket style: Standard, o-ring, or fire-ring for improved head gasket sealing at higher loads or higher performance. With ARP head studs the standard head gasket configuration (non-Oringed or Fire-ringed) is fine for normal to heavy use with light to moderate upgrades and mild tuning. For trucks with upgraded turbos/injectors we would highly recommend o-rings. Our KDD O-ringed cummins head bolts on like factory, no extra re-torque required, and we would recommend these for heavy towing, hot street use, and mild or occasional competition use. Our KDD Fire-ringed cummins head will require subsequent hot re-torques to properly seat the gasket. On the Cummins platform, the fire-ringed option is the strongest head gasket seal we have found, but it does require several hot re-torques, which is more labor intensive than o-rings. We recommend the fire-ringed head for all competition, compound turbo, or nitrous applications where maximum cylinder pressure will be a common occurrence.
Valves: KDD offers OE replacement quality valves, as well as stainless nitrided, and Inconel. For factory trucks, the standard valves are typically fine. The stainless nitrided valves add extra durability for heavy towing or hot street/performance applications. The Inconel valves will work fine in daily driven applications, but also offer the most resistance to heat, and are perfect for extreme duty, max effort applications.
Springs: KDD offers valve springs for every application, "stock plus" gives a slight bump in pressure over factory to help handle heavy towing and mild performance upgrades. We also offer 100 lb spring options to handle hot street applications, such as larger turbo/injectors and/or camshaft upgrades. 120lb springs would be recommended for max-effort applications with compound turbos and/or nitrous, competition use.
