Description:
This replacement center section is designed to drop into your late 99 to 03 Garrett 38r turbos. Until now, there has been no effective way to rebuild a ball bearing turbo at home. That's where this CHRA comes in to play. It will not only allow you to rebuild your turbo, but you will be upgrading the performance output of the turbo too.
This will NOT fit any other turbo. Not the stock tp38 or gtp38 or D66 or Brute 66 or any other KC Turbo.
This is only meant for a genuine garrett gtp38r 66mm ball bearing turbo rebuild/modification into a journal bearing CHRA.
***Please note that there is no warranty on any DIY products***

My gtp38r suffered some damage and began burning oil, KC Turbos is the only company to offer a rebuildable centersection for such and expensive turbo. And the best part is, its better than the gtp38r ever was! If I had to, id but this center section again. But I wont have to because its rebuildable! 10/10 would recommend.
Went from a gtp38 to this one and power wise not much difference, whistle noise is a bit louder(and a bit hissy). I had an over size housing and compressor wheel so the housing didn’t fit. Ordered an gtp38r housing and cut/welded my own retainer brackets to hold housing on. Makes about 16 psi when flooring it, before my turbo with the oversized compressor wheel made 18 psi. Egts are a bit hotter at 380 f to 420 f at 70mph, 75 mph and I’m climbing up to 500 f. I still have waste-gate issues and need to get a longer one so the engine light goes away. Removed it in 15-20 mins and install is longer (due the the stupid up pipe exhaust clamp having a shorter bolt).
I thought i was going to be out $2000 for a turbo replacement and i called up KC and they showed me this product, thankful and happy for this to upgrade my damaged 38r turbo.
My gtp38r went bad and I thought I was gonna have to buy a whole new turbo since there’s no kit’s available . Then I found this. I loved how my 38r was and now I like it even more with this center section. Great sound. And Got it shipped fast. Thanks!!
